AGBOOLA TOWOJU PIUS (B.Sc., MBA, CIIN & ACA)

Pius Agboola is an emerging top player in the corporate world. He is an Associate of both the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN). He holds a first degree in Business Administration, where he specialised in Actuarial Science, from the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, ABU, Zaria (1988) and a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from the same institution in 1995.

He started his working career in ABU, Zaria in 1990 as a lecturer. In his quest for a more challenging working experiences and practical application of knowledge, he joined National Insurance Corporation of Nigeria (NICON) in 1996. He moved from being Assistant Manager to Senior Manager before he was seconded to NICON SEGUROS PLC, a subsidiary of NICON in Sao tome and Principe as Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer. He led the subsidiary from 2008 to 2013.

He returned to Nigeria in 2013 and moved to Nigeria Reinsurance Corporation as Executive Director (Technical). He was later transferred to Energy Bank Ghana in 2014 as Executive Director (Finance, Audit and Risk Management). Before the end of 2014, he joined National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) as Director (Authorization and Policy) and has occupied different positions within the Commission as a Director.

During his position as director of Inspectorate Directorate, he supervised the Anti- Money Laundering, Countering The Financing of Terrorism and Proliferations Financing Of Weapons of Mass Destruction (AML/CFT/CPF) activities of NAICOM. He champion the development, training and application of Risk Based Supervision Framework and the Manual. Mr Agboola also represented Nigeria at GIABA as an Evaluation Compliance Group (ECG) Team of Experts for over three years from April 2020 to July 2023. He was commended by NAICOM and GIABA respectively for a good job done during this time.

Pius Agboola has attended many courses, seminars and conferences both locally and internationally. He is a seasoned facilitator, motivational speaker and writer. He has written and published books entitled ‘Life Empowerment Pillars, volumes I and II.

Agboola Pius (Retired) from NAICOM in July, 2023 based on Federal Government circular/PSR on 8-year tenure for Director. Mr Agboola knowledge, skills and experience are very wide and deep for a sustainable impact in the insurance industry.

He remained an asset to the Insurance Industry.
